Delgado demands Lyon legacy

8363404 300x199 Delgado demands Lyon legacyCesar Delgado has challenged his Lyon team-mates to leave a legacy “we will tell our sons about” by knocking Spain’s big-spending capital club Real Madrid out of the Champions League (Lyon 5/1 – To Qualify).

The French side travel to the Bernabeu (Real Madrid 3/10 draw 4/1 Lyon 9/1 – match betting) leading 1-0 from the first leg but underdogs to get the result that would send a shock-wave around Europe.

Argentina midfielder Delgado expects Lyon will be in for a difficult assignment and has demanded his team-mates play with their heads.

“We have to be intelligent if we are to reach the next round,” he said. “We have a minimum advantage but we can win if we remain concentrated and don’t let Real Madrid play. Then anything can happen.”

The 28-year-old also stressed OL have no special plan to put the brakes on the competition’s top individual marksman, Cristiano Ronaldo, insisting they cannot become fixated by the world’s most expensive footballer.

“My first thought is for OL and what we can do to damage Madrid. We must worry about ourselves,” added Delgado, who returned to action in Saturday’s goalless draw at US Boulogne having been sidelined with a hamstring injury since Madrid visited France on February 16.
