Nigel de Jong has bullishly predicted Manchester City will secure a coveted Champions League spot – by winning the Premier League title (Manchester City 14/1 Premier League – Outright).

A one-sided 4-1 romp against Blackburn (Blackburn 6/1 To Be Relegated) at Eastlands on Monday lifted City over Tottenham into fourth spot and maintained Roberto Mancini’s unbeaten tenure.

“Of course the title is a possibility. Nothing is impossible,” said de Jong.

The Holland midfielder says he and his team-mates have no intention of letting go of their position in the top four and believes City are more than a match for the Premier League rivals.

He added: “Of course we can stay in the top four. You see how big the squad is. It’s not only the first 11 but the 22 players in the squad.

“The important thing is the Champions League place and trying to continue in that position. Then, we will see in March and April where we are standing.”
