Joe Cole has confirmed that he wants to sort out his future as quickly as possible following England’s Word Cup elimination and Tottenham look set to challenge rivals Arsenal for his signature ahead of their maiden Champions League campaign (Spurs 40/1 Outright).
The attacking midfielder is departing Premier League champions Chelsea (6/4f to retain their crown in 2010/11) following the end of his contract at Stamford Bridge and Cole will not be short of potential suitors as north London duo Arsenal and Spurs are both said to be interested in signing him.
Manchester United were linked but have since ruled themselves out of the running to take Cole, who is hoping to get fixed up with a new team imminently following a miserable World Cup campaign.
He said: “I want to have a couple of weeks off, want to sort my future out as soon as possible, go on holiday with my family.
“Next season I want to have a fantastic season for England and whatever club I am at.
“The next contract I sign will be a footballing decision. I want to play in a more central position.
“I want a manager who has faith in me and I’m talking about club football here.
“It is a big decision for me and my family but I’m open to anything at the moment.
“I have purposely not spoken to anyone while I’ve been here because that wouldn’t be fair on England.
“My phone has been turned off but now I want to sort it all out.”
