City reveal Tevez delay

3465134 300x199 City reveal Tevez delayCarlos Tevez will not play in Sunday’s Community Shield clash with Manchester United (Match Betting – City 7/4, Draw 9/4, Utd 5/4), but Manchester City say he will be available for the start of the new Premier League season.

The Argentinian is still looking to leave Eastlands but, following the breakdown of a move to Corinthians, now looks set to remain with City until at least January.

It was thought Tevez would be back in training this week ahead of the Wembley showdown, but he has been ruled out the game with City officials saying he is not expected back to the UK until Monday.

A City spokesman said: “Carlos has now been given extended leave so he can return on Monday, which is 21 days after Argentina’s exit from the Copa America.”

Meanwhile, Tevez’s agent, Kia Joorabchian, claims he is not “overly worried” by the collapse of the Corinthians deal and that the striker will “respect” the fact that he remains a City (4/1 Premier League 2011-12 Outright) player.

The former West Ham man will have seven days to prove his fitness and earn a place in the starting line-up for the opening game of the season at Swansea.
