Juve ready for Blues showdown

Juventus assistant manager Angelo Alessio admits Tuesday’s Champions League clash with Chelsea is do or die for the Old Lady’s hopes of qualification (Juve 5/6, draw 11/4, Chelsea 10/3 – Match Betting).

The Italian champions welcome the Blues to Turin for what could be a defining game in the race for qualification from Group E, with Juve just a point behind Chelsea and Shakhtar Donetsk, who are first and second respectively on seven points.

Victory over the European champions would give Juventus a two-point advantage heading into the final round of matches.

However, defeat would all but spell the end for the Serie A side, with Chelsea unlikely to slip up in their last match against Nordsjaelland.

The two teams played out a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge when they met on matchday one and there is likely to be little to separate them in Italy.

Juventus have yet to lose in Europe this season but three draws in four matches have hampered their progress on their return to the competition.

Alessio admits they can’t afford another draw and says the pressure is on to secure the three points they need to keep alive their hopes of qualification for the last-16.

Alessio said: “We know, without beating about the bush, that it’s all or nothing and we want to go through.

“If we are not so good, we will play the Europa League, but we know we have achieved something good already.”

Juventus (10/11 to qualify) have lost just once all season and are currently top of Serie A, while in contract Chelsea (2/7) have suffered a blip in form after defeat at West Brom saw them extend their winless run to four matches.
