Rafael Benitez is preparing his players for a must-win home clash against Wigan (Liverpool 1/3 to win, Wigan 10/1, the draw 7/2 Match Bets) at Anfield on Wednesday still confident they can secure a top-four Premier League finish this season.
The Reds boss is ignoring his critics who feel the Merseysiders have little left to play for in the league this season (66/1 Premier League outright) following their 2-1 defeat against Arsenal on Sunday.
And, despite being down in eighth position and well short of the top four places required for Champions League qualification, Benitez is certain his players can make up the ground starting against the Latics.
He said: “We are so close to doing well. Every game for us is a game we have to win. There are still 22 games to play so we know we have to change our target. I have to have confidence in my team and I know we are better than the team you are seeing on the pitch.
“I can guarantee we will finish in the top four.”
