Bale issues Milan warning

Tottenham star Gareth Bale believes AC Milan should be concerned about how they are going to stop Spurs (6/5 to beat AC Milan) in their Champions League last-16 clash at White Hart Lane.

The north London outfit go into Wednesday’s game with a 1-0 lead after a controversial first leg in the San Siro, Peter Crouch giving them the win late on in a game that was overshadowed by Joe Jordan’s bust-up with Gennaro Gattuso.

Tottenham are now full of confidence they can make the quarter-finals having won all of their previous four matches at home in the Champions League.

One of those wins was against AC Milan’s local rivals Inter, a game in which Bale stole the show as he took apart right-back Maicon.

Bale missed the first leg of the clash against AC Milan because of a back injury but should be fit to take his place in Harry Redknapp’s starting XI after he made his comeback against Wolves at the weekend.

The Welshman has been heavily praised in the build-up to Wednesday’s match, with Redknapp claiming he can develop into the best player in the world, while England boss Fabio Capello claims he is the best winger on the planet.

Bale claims his best performance to date was against Inter Milan and hopes he and Tottenham (14/1 Champions League outright) can recreate that display against AC Milan (33/1) to book their passage into the quarter-finals.

“They have a string of big names capable of winning matches on their own. I am thinking of Ibrahimovic, of Robinho,” said Bale. “But I believe Milan will be thinking of what can happen to them here.

“They will be a lot more worried about us. And this should even things up on the pitch. If we play to our best, we can give anyone a game.”
