AVB reveals Blues role

35813262 300x201 AVB reveals Blues roleChelsea (1/2 – Premier League – Top-Four Finish) boss Andre Villas-Boas has admitted his age and inexperience in the Premier League has affected the way he has managed the side at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues currently find themselves 12 points off the pace in the race for the title ahead of their must-win clash against Manchester United on Sunday (Chelsea 6/4, draw 23/10, United 19/10 – Match Betting).

Villas-Boas has not had an easy time since moving to London, with Chelsea struggling to live up to their high standards in domestic competitions, despite doing well in the Champions League.

Questions have been raised over the tactician’s managerial experience and Villas-Boas has admitted he has had to adapt his approach.

The 24-year-old told The Technician: “Because of my age and my lack of a professional playing background, I could never be dictatorial.

“I therefore let the players have a certain amount of input into decisions regarding the way we play and how the team is run.

“Also, when we talk about the well-being of a group, I encourage the players to participate in the decisions affecting their professional life.”

Chelsea were lucky to earn a point in their last outing - a 1-1 draw against Swansea City in midweek – and will have to produce an improved performance if they are to beat United at Stamford Bridge.
