Manchester City’s bid to bring Sergio Aguero to the Premier League has come closer after the player revealed he has arrived in the north-west (City – 4/1 Premier League 2011/12 outright).
The Argentine striker has been the subject of increasing speculation in recent weeks and City are set to break their transfer record – which stands at £32.5 million for Robinho in 2008 – to bring Aguero to England.
The deal for the 23-year-old could be as high as £38 million, according to reports, and his arrival will further increase City’s attacking potential as they look to rival Manchester United (7/4 Outright) for the Premier League title.
“Just arrived in Manchester to finalise the details of signing with City,” Aguero wrote on Twitter.
“Everything is going very well! I’ll tell you more in a while.”
Aguero seems set to become City’s third transfer deal of the summer, following the arrival of Gael Clichy from Arsenal (7/1 to win Premier League) and Stefan Savic from Partizan Belgrade, and his arrival will prompt more speculation over the future of Carlos Tevez.
His Argentine compatriot wants to leave City to be closer to his family in South America, but after a proposed deal with Corinthians fell through the future of Tevez remains up in the air.
