Emmanuel Adebayor is hoping that Louis Saha’s arrival at Tottenham might give them the shot in the arm they need to challenge for the Premier League title (Spurs 16/1 Premier League Outright).
Spurs have enjoyed a superb season to date and currently sit in third place in the table, with 53 points from 25 games played. They trail second place Manchester United by five points with Manchester City two points further ahead of the Red Devils.
While a top four spot looks virtually assured, with the chasing pack not exactly pulling up any trees, there has been talk all season that the White Hart Lane side might actually be able to win the the title (Spurs 1/16 Top Four Finish).
Harry Redknapp was expected to bring in some big-name stars in January to bolster their chances but he opted for 33-year-old injury-plagued Saha from Everton, much to the surprise of pundits and fans alike.
But the former Fulham star bagged two goals on his debut to prove that he is far from a spent force at the top level domestically.
Adebayor, who is on a season-long loan from Manchester City, played with Saha at French club Metz at the beginning of his career and he is excited by the prospect of linking up with his boyhood hero to help the club achieve their ambitions.
“It was his first game at home and he scored two goals. Hopefully he will be the striker that we need who can give us a push until the end of the season,” he said.
“At the moment we are third and we have to keep going, keep fighting and see how far we can go.”
