Fish on fire

9224748 300x226 Fish on fireMardy Fish (8/1 to win this week’s Farmers Classic event) believes he is in the best form of his career after sealing a second successive ATP Tour title in 2010, with victory in the Atlanta Tennis Championships.

The American defeated fellow countryman John Isner 4-6 6-4 7-6 (7-4) in Sunday’s final in Atlanta, extending his unbeaten run to ten matches.

Fish, who also defeated top seed Andy Roddick on his way to his latest title, has never before won two tournaments in the one year and the 28-year-old is full of confidence.

The world number 49 revealed: “I feel as good as I’ve ever felt in my career. I’ve never won two tournaments in a row, and I’ve never won 10 matches in a row on the ATP tour. It’s probably as good as it’s been.”

Fish will continue his preparations for the final Grand Slam event of the year, the US Open – where his best run came in 2008 when reaching the quarter-finals.

The Florida resident will look to extend his run further at this week’s ATP Farmers Classic in LA, where he will play Germany’s Benjamin Becker in the first round (Fish 2/7, Becker 5/2 – Match Prices).

Britain’s Andy Murray is the top seed for this week’s tournament, with the Scot handed a first-round bye.
