Former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has been told to make sure Ivory Coast (28/1 Outright) do not let themselves down at the World Cup after being appointed on a short-term basis.
The Swede succeeds Vahid Halilhodzic who paid the price for a poor campaign at the African Cup of Nations at the start of the year.
And Eriksson has been told to ensure the Elephants make a decent fist of qualifying from their group where they face Brazil, Portugal and North Korea (10/11 To Qualify From Group G).
An FIF statement read: “Aware of the great expectations of our population who have taken a keen interest in the matter, the executive committee focused its choice on Mr Sven-Goran Eriksson.
“The Swede has been, among others, coach of England and Mexico. He is an experienced technician who has been proven.
“His mission is to lead our team during this World Cup, and to ensure that there is an honourable participation in a competition reserved for the top 32 football nations in the world, and it obviously will be difficult.”
