Taylor in play-off charge

Phil Taylor (13/8 – To Lift Trophy) has admitted the next round of Premier League fixtures in Birmingham are crucial if the Englishman is to make the play-offs.

The six-time tournament winner has endured a difficult time in the competition and was at one stage sitting at the bottom of the table.

‘The Power’ has managed to get himself back in the frame for a play-off spot and is currently in fourth position in the standings, level on points with Gary Anderson.

The pair played each other in the previous round in what was a crunch match for both players’ progression in the tournament, but nothing could separate the duo as they drew 6-6.

Taylor did admit that he was happy to add another point to the overall total, but stated that the two games in Birmingham next are absolutely vital.

“Next week I play twice so that is make or break for me but I’m excited and looking forward to it.

“If I lose those two, I can forget it. It’s all about getting to (the play-offs) at the O2 Arena. We are all pushing for that.”

Taylor goes up against in-form Raymond van Barneveld on May 1 before taking on Dave Chisnall later that evening where he is 2/5 to claim victory over the ‘Chizzy Rascal’.
