Anderson ready for tough night

Gary Anderson is targeting at least two points from his Premier League Darts double-header on Thursday as he faces both Phil Taylor and Robert Thornton (Anderson 7/2, Taylor 8/15, draw 4/1 Match Prices).

The ‘Flying Scotsman’ has enjoyed a solid season to date on the PDC circus, with six wins and five losses seeing him reside in fifth place in the standings and just outside the play-off places.

Matches are now coming thick and fast and it is the 43-year-old’s turn to face two opponents in Manchester, as he will open his night against ‘The Power’ before concluding proceedings against countryman Thornton (Anderson 5/6, Thornton 11/5, draw 4/1 Match Prices).

Every point is now vital and, with Taylor just one point and one place above him in the table, Anderson could leapfrog the Stoke legend by taking him down at the Phones 4u Arena.

That is certainly his aim but, with the quality on show, the Eyemouth-born ace made it clear he would take any sort of positive results from his two outings.

“To get one win out of two would be good and it would be great to win both, which is what I’ll be trying to do,” he said. “But I know how tough it’s going to be because I’m up against two fantastic players.”

Thornton is also involved in two matches as, in addition to Anderson, he takes on Peter Wright in the night’s opening fixture (Thornton 7/4, Wright 11/10, draw 7/2 Match Prices).

Raymond van Barneveld plays Adrian Lewis and world champion Michael van Gerwen is in action against Dave Chisnall in what promises to be another great night of tungsten tossing.
