Lewis delighted with form

Adrian Lewis (7/4 Outright Betting In-Play) hailed his form as “fantastic” as he romped to a 4-1 win against Vincent van der Voort in the second round of the PDC World Championships at Alexandra Palace on Monday night.

The two-time world champion and world number three was unplayable as he hit nine 180s during the course of the clash.

Lewis raced into a 2-0 lead as he followed up a 146 checkout with a 12-dart finish, before Van der Voort cut the deficit as he took the third following up a 177 with a 24.

The two-set advantage was restored with a 112 finish and Lewis overcame some jitters to finish the game in the fifth with a  double five to set up a third-round meeting with Mervyn King (Lewis 1/6, King 4/1 Match Result) , who beat Ricky Evans 4-2.

A confident Lewis told Sky Sports 2: “I thought it was fantastic tonight.

“I hit the right shots at the right time, kept him under pressure.

“I’ve won it twice before so it’s been there and done that.”

Meanwhile sixth seed James Wade (25/1 Outright Winner In-Play), who has reached the semi-finals on three previous occasions, came from 3-0 down to beat Andy Smith 4-3.
