Dalglish excited by Bellamy deal

Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has admitted he was a long standing admirer of striker Craig Bellamy before signing him for the Reds (16/1 Premier League Outright) on a free transfer this summer.

The Wales international found himself out of favour at Manchester City under manager Roberto Mancini and has reportedly taken a drop in wages to re-sign for the Merseyside club.

Bellamy had a short stint with Liverpool in the 2006/2007 campaign, however off the field incidents affected his first spell at Anfield under then manager Rafa Benitez.

Dalglish though was keen to bring him back to club and the Scot believes the 32-year-old will prove to be another great signing, in what has been a busy transfer window for the Reds.

The manager said: “I don’t know why I have never signed him before in my managerial career. Maybe I wasn’t working when he was available.

“He is somebody that has impressed me. He has got pace. He has got quality. He loves this club, which is very important, and he will be a fantastic asset for us.”

Bellamy could make his second debut for Liverpool on Saturday, when his side travel to the Britannia Stadium for a tricky looking clash against Stoke City (Match Betting - Stoke 12/5, draw 23/10, Liverpool 5/4).
