Flower motivated to continue

England team director Andy Flower has insisted he is determined to continue in his role with the Test side despite his team finding themselves 4-0 down going into the fifth and final Ashes Test with Australia (Australia 4/6, draw 3/1, England 7/2 – Fourth Test Betting).

After what has been a disastrous series so far for the tourists Down Under, there has been speculation about Flower’s role with England, while questions have also been raised surrounding the captain Alastair Cook.

England are currently preparing for the final Test against the Baggy Greens on January 2 in Sydney, with the tourists hoping to restore some pride in the Test shirt before the one-day internationals.

Flower has admitted it has been a tough tour so far but has no doubt he wants to continue leading England (10/11 Highest Opening Partnership) and is relishing the challenge of building a team that can bring success back to the jersey, with the likes of Joe Root and Ben Stokes still in the early stages of their careers.

He said: “The prospect of building a new successful England side would excite any coach. I’m motivated.

“Out of challenging times we can grow significantly and we’ll be looking at how we will do that.

“I’m proud to have been a part of it so far. Any coach would be excited to work with the likes of Joe Root and Ben Stokes.”
