Steyn ready to bowl over England

PA 6940925 Steyn 300x188 Steyn ready to bowl over EnglandDale Steyn believes the conditions in Durban will aid South Africa rather than England (7/2 to win the Test in the match prices market) when the two sides clash in the second Test of the series.

The Proteas (8/11 to be victories in the Test series betting) came within a whisker of winning the first Test in Pretoria, Graham Onions’ blocking in the last few overs helping the tourists salvage a draw.

Fast bowler Steyn, who missed the first match of the series because of a hamstring problem, believes this time around things will be different as the South African’s have now sussed out the England team.

“We are quite happy with the way things went and have been able to suss out what they are like in the longer format. We can prepare even better for the second Test in conditions we know much better than the English,” said Steyn.

Confidence within the South Africa (11/8 to win the second Test in the cricket betting) camp is likely to be boosted further by the news that Steyn should be fit to face England.

The 26-year-old will undergo a fitness Test on Wednesday to see whether he has overcome his hamstring problem and should come into the side for either Friedel de Wet or Makhaya Ntini if the Proteas continue to stick with just four bowlers.

However, Steyn’s return to fitness spells bad news for England (6/5 to have a first innings lead) with the Nashu Titans player currently at the top of the ICC rankings for Test bowlers.

England’s batting collapse on the final day of the first Test will have left Steyn licking his lips in anticipation of taking to the field on Boxing Day as South Africa try to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
