Aussies on course for victory

PA 6052322 Sarwan 300x206 Aussies on course for victoryAustralia are now 1/25 in the Test match in-play betting to beat the West Indies after taking a commanding lead on day two of the first Test.

The day started well for the Aussies as they resumed on 322-5, with Marcus North and Nathan Hauritz both making first innings half centuries before North went for 79 off the bowling of Dwayne Bravo.

North’s dismissal was followed by Hauritz’s fine innings as he made 50 not out by skipper Rickey Ponting decided to put the tourists into bat for the final session of the day.

The Windies (40/1 to win the Test in the match in-play market) briefly looked to be in control as they made 49 without lose, Chris Gayle making a composed 31.

However, the good form with the bat didn’t last for the West Indies as they endured a terrible spell which saw them reduced from 49-0 to 63-4.

The day ended with Denesh Ramdin (8/11 to be the 6th man out for the Windies) and Travis Dowlin (evens) left at the crease at close with the tourists on 134-5.

Despite Austrlia looking on course for a comfortable victory vice-captain Ramdin still believes that he and Dowlin might be able to steer the West Indies towards a respectable total.

“I’m a bit disappointed with the way things went,”  saidRamdin.

“We lost probably two wickets more than we expected. Having said that, Travis and I are there and batting quite well at the moment. We’ll see how it goes on Saturday.”
