Broad ready for Twenty20 test

Stuart Broad says he “feels great” going into the upcoming World Twenty20 tournament (England 10/1 in outright winners market) after enjoying an successful start to the county season.

England team-mate Kevin Pietersen (16/1 to be the tournament’s top batsman) questioned Broad and James Anderson’s decisions not to play in the IPL, which he felt may be detrimental to the squad’s chances in the Caribbean.

But Broad feels he made the right decision to sit out the high-profile Indian event in order to rest his body ahead of a busy year of international cricket.

The 23-year-old took eight wickets in Nottinghamshire’s win over Somerset to highlight his good form heading to the West Indies.

Broad insisted: “I feel great. The rest was fantastic to make sure the body got rid of all the niggles. I feel fresh.”

England face Bangladesh in their first warm-up fixture on Wednesday, before playing their opening ICC World Twenty20 fixture against the hosts on May 3.
