Dmitriy Salita is convinced Amir Khan is vulnerable and says he intends to expose the WBA light-welterweight champion(Khan 1/6 draw 33/1 Salita 4/1 fight prices) when they meet in Newcastle on December 5.
The aggressive Brooklyn-based fighter says he has spotted a definite chink in Khan’s armour – illustrated by his devastating defeat by Breidis Prescott in 2008 – and aims to prove his 22-year-old opponent is not untouchable.
“His chin is definitely an area of vulnerability,” said Salita, who is unbeaten in 31 fights, with 16 knockouts.
“It’s not just because of Prescott that he’s vulnerable. He has been knocked down a whole bunch of other times.”
Willie Limond and Michael Gomez proved the Olympic silver medalist has a soft spot before Prescott and two-fisted Salita (66/1 Round One victory) says Khan’s switch to top trainer Freddie Roach, albeit a wise move, will not help him when they meet at the Metro Radio Arena.
“He definitely has a seed of doubt because of the Prescott defeat,” the 27-year-old told BBC Sport.
“Making the move to Freddie was a smart move and helped him win the belt but I’m going to go in there to do my work and eventually he is going to get hit on the chin.”
