Britain’s David Haye (8/13 to win in Betfred’s Bout odds) has vowed to become the first man to knock out WBA heavyweight champion Nikolay Valuev when they meet at Germany’s Nuremberg Arena on Saturday.
The 29-year-old, nicknamed ‘Hayemaker’, believes the 7ft 2in giant from St Petersburg (5/4 to win in Betfred’s Bout odds) will fall for the first time in 51 fights, 50 of which he has won.
“The combination of my hand speed and Valuev’s immense head is going to cause an explosion. This is my chance to make history,” said the Londoner.
“I’ve dreamed of the moment Valuev falls to the canvas and I truly believe it will be one of the most jaw-dropping knockouts of all time.”
Valuev is nearly a foot taller and approximately 90lb heavier than Haye – the former world Cruiserweight champion, who is also giving away a five inch reach advantage to the Russian.
