Carl Froch believes a recent cut above Andre Ward‘s right eye could give him an advantage going into Saturday night’s showdown in Atlantic City (Bout 3 Way – Ward 2/7, Draw 25/1, Froch 11/4).
The two world champions will go toe-to-toe in the final of the Super Six tournament, with both the WBC and WBA belts on the line.
The super-middleweight contest was originally due to take place in October but the cut above the American’s right eye, suffered during a sparring session, forced the postponement.
Froch said: “It might slow down his use of the head because of scar tissue above his eye that could open up. This is a fight of such magnitude it’s all going to be fair and above board.”
Both fighters made the weight at the first time of asking, with Ward going into the fight slightly heavier than the Nottingham fighter. Ward made the 168lb (12st) limit on the money, with WBC champion Froch half-a-pound lighter.
Froch (To Win On Points 7/2) concedes that Ward is a ‘very good fighter’ but says he has told his opponent in the build-up that “he can’t knock me out”.
