Barry hopes for England peace

8446039 300x204 Barry hopes for England peaceGareth Barry is hoping there is no hangover from the John Terry and Wayne Bridge furore when England take on Egypt in an international friendly at Wembley on Wednesday (England 2/7 draw 7/2 Egypt 15/2 – match betting).

Terry (16/1 Each Way First Goalscorer) and Bridge came face-to-face for the first time at Stamford Bridge on Saturday since allegations about the Chelsea captain and the mother of the Manchester City defender’s son hit the headlines.

Bridge refused to shake Terry’s hand before the game and Craig Bellamy later remarked “everybody in football knows what the guy is like” in the wake of a spiky Premier League encounter which City won 4-2.

Bridge announced last week he did not wish to be picked for international duty because he felt his position in the squad could be “untenable and potentially divisive”.

And team-mate Barry is hoping the issue will not raise its head when England meet up and going into this summer’s World Cup.

He said: “It’s personal issues and as professionals you have to put it aside, once we are together it will all be forgotten and we will try to win a game of football because that is what it is all about.”
