Ancelotti happy to have Yossi

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti believes Yossi Benayoun will be a better player tactically than Joe Cole for Chelsea as they look to defend their Premiership title. (Chelsea 11/8 fav to win Premiership)

Ancelotti shocked the football world by allowing Cole to leave Stamford Bridge on a free transfer before snapping up Benayoun from rivals Liverpool.

Cole is known as one of the most exciting players in the English top flight with his ability to beat opposition players and deliver telling passes.

The England international has now joined Liverpool and will look to be part of new Reds boss Roy Hodgson’s plans to recapture former glories at Anfield. (Liverpool 16/1 to win Premiership)

But Ancelotti feels that Chelsea are now a stronger unit with Benayoun in the squad and Cole elsewhere, as he has a better understanding of the game.

“Joe Cole is quicker than Benayoun but Yossi is better tactically. He understands what I tell him,” he said.

“Yossi is a very intelligent player. He knows everything about the game. Cole and Benayoun are different players and everyone has their own opinion, but we are happy to have Yossi here at Chelsea.”

Cole missed the majority of last season at Chelsea through injury but is looking to get his club and international career back on track on Merseyside after England boss Fabio Capello overlooked him at the World Cup this summer.

Hodgson is hoping that Cole will be an influential part of the Liverpool revival, after Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard both pledged their futures to the club .
