Whilst it is true that any hand can win in poker, it is best to have some sort of standards when it comes to your starting hands. Most of the time in Texas Hold’em you should be folding, in fact in a full ring cash game you should usually only be playing around 15-18% of hands dealt to you.

Your starting hand requirements should not be rigid but should have some structure to them and be based mainly on your position in relation to the button and the stack sizes of those around you.
