I took another shot at the $3,000 Guaranteed tournament on Betfred on Friday night and fell just short of the money, finishing in 112 when 80 were paid. To be honest I found it a real grind as I struggled to accumulate chips and nothing I did seemed to work. I busted when I open-shoved my 12 big blind stack with Jd9d only to run into a pair of queens.

If you have not played in this tournament I suggest you give it a try. It runs every night at 2140 UK time and there is so much dead money in there it is not funny. If you can catch a couple of big hands early on or avoid the flurry of all-ins and make it to the break then you’re in with a real chance of hitting the money.

I also played in the $2.20 rebuy tournament, again an MTT with a ton of value in it but I lost a massive coinflip close to the second break when my pair of tens were out flopped by my opponent’s Ace-King for what would have been a top ten stack. Frustrating but that’s poker.
