It’s been a subdued week for us United fans, but hopefully we can raise our heads above the parapet again after tomorrow’s match away to Everton.
I can’t tell you how much it hurt when I had to make City favourites for the league title at Evens, with United out to 2/1 after last Sunday’s debacle when I thought Halloween had come a week early!
Still, it was only one game and despite the nature of the result City only got three points for it. There are 29 matches to go and I’m certainly not getting despondent.
Goodison Park is never an easy place to win at, but the Reds will be up for this game to prove their quality and restore confidence. I just hope there are no bleary eyes with the midday kick-off time.
United are 4/5 to return to winning ways, with Everton 11/4 and the draw 12/5 in a fixture that usually produces plenty of excitement.
Worryingly, given the defensive problems United have been suffering from, the Toffees have scored three goals against us on their ground in each of the last two seasons.
Wayne Rooney loves to score against his former club and is 9/2 to net the opener tomorrow, with Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck both 11/2.
Manchester City face Wolves for the second time in four days, this time at home after their 5-2 Carling Cup romp at Molineux on Wednesday night.
The Blues have still dropped only two points this season and I’ll be amazed if that stat changes this weekend, for they are 1/6 to notch another win. The draw is 5/1 and Wolves are 10/1 outsiders.
A new chant could be heard from the stands at both televised Carling Cup games this week, with City and Aldershot fans singing “We’re gonna win 6-1”.
It’s entirely possible that last weekend’s scoreline could be repeated at the Etihad Stadium against Wolves and if you think it will, the odds are 28/1.
Another 6-1 looked on the cards on Wednesday until Mick McCarthy’s side pulled a goal back to make it 5-2, and you can have 80/1 if you fancy that will be the final score again.
