Ponting refuses to ease off on India

8008507Bollinger 300x204 Ponting refuses to ease off on India Ricky Ponting does not want his Australian team of stopgap and substitute players to lose the winning feeling when they meet India (4/7 in Betfred’s Match Prices) for the last time in the seventh ODI on Tuesday.

The tourists (5/4) hold a winning 4-2 edge going into the final match of the series in Mumbai – a ground which they have won two of their previous clashes, with the one defeat coming in a similar dead rubber.

But Ponting, who is without leading bowler Mitchell Johnson and all-rounder Shane Watson who will be flying home on Tuesday night to get some rest ahead of the upcoming home season, will not let the stand-ins ease off on India.

The Australian skipper said: “Even though the series is won, it’s not as if we’re going to leave everyone out now and not worry too much about the last game.

“We feel we’ve started something here with this group, not only here but since the one day series in England, we’ve started to get a really good feeling around the group and I don’t want to abandon that or let that go. It’d be nice to finish off on a winning note.”

Australia are set to give one-day debuts to Andrew McDonald and Burt Cockley and there could also be a chance for left-arm spinner Jon Holland.

Dougie Bollinger has been the star of the Aussie attack with nine wickets taken at less than 20 runs apiece and the game-changing scalp of Sachin Tendulkar (11/4 in Top Batsman – India odds) in Guwahati.
